Our Story

This is a common story: As young newlyweds – forty years ago – we thought that a house without a dog is not a home. So we chose a lop-eared cocker spaniel, with sad eyes. Lord was a male, golden yellow, very attracted to the opposite sex. A two meter high brick fence was no obstacle to him if a bitch in heat was somewhere around. The color of the hair or age was no problem. Whether or not he was successful in his endeavors, we do not know. But in times like these, he simply disappeared. Many times we had to pay the “honest neighbor” who found him to give him back to us. When we moved from Novi Sad to Temerin, he finally disappeared once and for all.

A home without a dog is not a home. But we did not need a stray dog, but someone to live with us, as a friend, member of the family. There were already four of us, as we had two sons. This meant that an apartment full of dog hairs and a strong smell would not be acceptable. We then buried ourselves in books about dogs. At first we were not sure, not experts, but according to the conditions given - only a poodle would do. A poodle? Would it be a pussycat? It was not. Mazsola (in Hungarian: “Raisin”) taught us that a poodle is a dog. Intelligent, obedient and cuddly, but a real dog. She lived with us for twelve years, and then one night she left us tragically fast. We swore that we would never have a dog again; such painful goodbyes were not for us.

But a home without a dog is not a home. A year later we started studying articles on dog breeding, as well as exhibition catalogues. It had to be a poodle, but not an apricot one; we do not want to think about Mazsola all the time. So, thirteen years ago, Dreamy arrived at our home, thanks to Krisztina Csóka, the esteemed dog breeder. We, of course, took her to a dog show... So, Damona Summer Dream began her path to success; at less than two years of age she became the international champion of beauty. That is how it all started. We became dog breeders, with the generous help of Ms. Lendvay, a well-known dog breeder. I insist upon breeders, not multipliers of white dwarf poodles. In twelve years, four bitches brought twelve broods into this world.

In the meantime, the children grew up and left our home, even left the country. Our home and our dreams are now entrusted to our four bitches: Dream, Alma, Bianca and Queenie. All from Powder Puff Breeding House. Maybe they will be joined by Loretta, the youngest. We will see. People are after their money and have less time for pets. Pity, but what can we do?
